Chrissie smiled. The crisp, white, clean sheets of paper
shone under her fingertips as she started to dance around the room. She,
Chrissie Cart, was going to a Bon Jovi concert. Then, she realised as she
peered at the finer print that it was a backstage pass. Surely they were very
expensive? Still, she jumped, wailed and danced like there was no tomorrow.
Then, she sprawled out on her bed, breathing heavily and stared at her poster
that hung high on the wall. It shown Richie with one of his white Kramers on
the poster, she smiled briefly. Richie Sambora. Hang on; she would get to meet
him?
She would savour this opportunity. Though, first, she would
have to lose a couple of pounds and go get a new wardrobe to go to the concert.
Being in England there was rarely a bright, warm day and she needed a new
leather jacket as it was often chilly in her area. The countryside. Yes, she's
a country girl, she loathed cities. Though, she was forced to suck up her
hatred for the city and go to the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, West Midlands. Her
thoughts came crashing back to reality when she heard her mum shouting for her
to do the animals. Her horse, Paddy and the cows fed, watered and mucked out
she could focus on choosing who to bring to the concert with her. She peered
through her phone contacts and chose Megan, her best friend in the whole world.
Megan was an aspiring artist and, as a teenager, would hear Chrissie blabber on
about Richie Sambora in the school hallways. Forced to accept her fate, Megan
chose to like Bon Jovi. With some encouragement.
Chrissie dialled Megan's number, lying back against the mountain
of pillows on her comfy bed. A ten mile wide smile was plastered to her face as
she heard ringing at the other end.
"Chrissie? Why are you calling?" Megan asked,
confused.
"I have news"
"Oh, Chrissie's getting married to Richie Sambora. Big
deal"
"I got backstage passes to the Bon Jovi concert at the
Ricoh in Coventry. Want to come?"
"Sure Chris. Don't stress about anything, I know you
stress and worry about things."
"I promise I won't, I'll be on my best behaviour"
"Good. I'll be laid back like I usually am and I'll
leave you to worry. Hey, what are you wearing for the concert?"
"A leather jacket, a Jovi t-shirt, some jeans and
boots. You?"
"I'm not sure yet, check with me tomorrow"
“Okay, I will" Chrissie told Megan, stretching her legs
out.
"Oh, and Chrissie, when will a new chapter of Don't Be Cruel be up? I'm dying to know!" Megan asked, smiling.
"Well Megan, you will have to wait and see. I have a
one day event at Bramcote on Tuesday, rally on Wednesday, work on the farm all
week and go to coffee with Anastasia at Costa. We can go Nuneaton and work it
out there"
"Sounds good to me, see you there, and Chrissie, when's
the concert again?"
"Saturday at 7pm, be at mine at 5:30 and we can go
early, you know traffic. I shall see you then, goodbye my fellow friend.
"Sure, goodbye Chrissie, see you then"
With the conversation over, Chrissie put down the phone,
groaning as she popped her back with a amount of pleasure. Waves of excitement
ravaged her body as she screamed to herself, the time was like torture that she
was yet to face. Still, she could be patient. Excitement was quite an
understatement. With her friend situation sorted, Chrissie could move onto her
clothes. She moved to her set of oak Chester drawers, they were full of mainly
jodhpurs and old jumpers, but she had splashed and bought some nice,
presentable clothes. Living in the country she would usually muck out Paddy and
Vera in the afternoon, gave the sow some feed and walked the dogs, not to
mention the other animals that roamed her property.
She would usually hack Paddy most days, would update stories
and do boring work all day long. Chrissie had managed to get her hands on a
vintage jacket; it was a birthday present after all. Her mum and family were
around today; her sisters’ party was later. She had two sisters, Sam and
Joanne, she was the youngest of the three, and, as a result was doted on as a
child.
Moving back to the situation at hand, she picked some
clothes and laid them out for the party, smelling the barbecue outside was
inviting. She moved outside where her sisters and in-laws were sitting on the
lawn. She smiled as the sun hit her face, she hid her Jovi concert secret from
her relatives, and they didn't care to be honest.
She sighed and sat down on the bank, looking towards the
house and back towards the rows of green fields that lay behind them, strewn
with crops, sheep and cattle. Her cousins played kiss chase on the garden as
her mum sat next to her, clutching a cup of coffee in her hand. Her uncle
chucked in the charcoal into the barbecue as she lay on the grass. She could
hear laughing and joking in her ears as Sam gladly accepted presents from her
auntie, who lived up north in Manchester. She smiled to herself and rolled over
with a groan as she shaded her face with her hand, Paddy was eating some hay
behind her in the field as she tutted about the mud that covered the entire
side of him. He was grey a minute ago!
She could brush that off later, now was the time for
greeting.... and relaxing.
"Chrissie" came a voice from behind her; it was
her cousin Alex who was playing cops and robbers.
"Yes Al?"
"Could you be a robber for us?"
"Sure" Chrissie replied as she stood up, walking
down the bank, across onto the garden. The weather was very pleasant that day,
the sun was beating down all day and it was the hottest it had been for weeks,
after all the rain caused a hell of a lot of mud in the field, which she would
sometimes get stuck in. She ran around with her cousin chasing her, followed by
Daniel, her other cousin and was playfully pushed to the ground in a police
like fashion.
